Hare Krishna, Hare Hare Krishna! It's the celebration of Spring, and it's the second time I was able to go to the huge gathering at the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork. It was super fun, but better than the last experience simply because I wore a bandana so I could breathe during the throwing. Smart move. I didn't get as much color in my face, which was nice, but I still got the nasty purple-brown chalk caked all over. Some guy even threw some orange chalk down the back of my shirt... but that's just how things are, I guess. You walk by people and they throw stuff at you to cover whatever white spots are still left.
It was a strange atmosphere, especially after being cooped up in the Provo bubble for so long but it's all about bringing more peace and love into the world... in a hippie sort of way. There was a live band playing music and having us chant Indian (as in India) words for peace and counted down for the large throwings that happened every two hours. It's super cool to watch individual handfuls of color flow through the wind but during these times is a death cloud of smoke. You can see, but it hurts your eyes a little and it can be difficult to breathe unless you have some kind of mouth/nose covering.
BUT it's worth it when you're with friends :)
