My mom personally asked me to play the piano at her funeral. She requested the hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob" which I've been practicing since March. She told me she loved it and always thought it was so pretty every time she heard it.
With that, only two of my other siblings were to participate in the funeral service. My oldest sister gave a talk, and my older brother consecrated the grave. I then took it upon myself to express my love for my mom through the piano. Music is, after all the best way I know how to express my feelings. I didn't get to use words, but through dynamics, tone, and the message of the song I think I was able to do it. I can't fully explain how that works, but I'm sure most of you know that music can touch a person's heart and penetrate the soul. The feeling music can give you has a way of teaching. It helps you understand a message, and how that message is portrayed you may also understand a person's feelings.
I felt you pour your heart out through that piece. It was Beautiful and it pulled a flood of tears from my eyes...Thank you Erin.
