My mom went in to the doctor today. Her platelets were too low so she couldn't do chemo, but thanks to the extra liter of fluid my mom weighs 109 pounds. Lately, she's also been feeling pains in her stomach which the doctor explained may be because of the amount of fluid taken in, because it has no efficient way to escape. It just sits around inside her body, adding pressure. She was given a shot which will have to be injected three times a day to help relieve some that pressure somehow.
The good news is that the increase in fluids have kept her hydrated while still dealing with the G-tube. Usually, whenever she drinks you can see it run straight through to her tube; it's kind of weird. And it's only a little disturbing when it's cranberry juice or a cherry flavored Slurpee. Another thing is that lately my mom's been feeling hungry. She hasn't had that sensation in over four months, so we're assuming it has to do with the past few chemo treatments. Hopefully it's clearing some things out.
Thanks for the updates!
