Playing Doctor

This morning I woke up early (early for me being 8 am) to help my mom with her port. My dad taught me how to set up the syringe before attaching it and inserting the ingredients, saline then heparin. The saline cleans out the port to make sure the TPN goes all the way through to the end, right above her heart. The heparin fills the port so no blood can get in and clot it. I was really nervous to do it, but it really wasn't that bad because there were no needles involved and my mom could verbally help me out. I've learned a lot of simple medical things throughout all this...
